Do You Need A Toner?

Skin Benefits of Including A Toner in your Skincare Regimen

Cleanse. Treat. Moisturize – it’s the traditional skincare regimen that has helped women maintain beautiful, glowing skin for decades. But as skincare evolved, so did the traditional anti-aging regimen; and the addition of a toner became commonplace. But, do you really need a toner? And what does a toner actually do for your skin? Don’t worry…we’ve got these answers and more!

Do I really need to use a toner?

Toners are an important part of any skincare regimen. Our answer to whether or not you need one is yes! While it’s often overlooked, it shouldn’t be. Toners are the bridge between washing and moisturizing the skin.

What does a toner actually do for my skin?

Toners balance the pH of your skin after cleansing and before applying a treatment product. When you cleanse your skin, some of the natural oils your body produces can be stripped away, disrupting the optimal pH balance of your skin. Using a toner following cleansing your skin helps to re-balance your skin’s pH levels while also preparing your skin to receive the beneficial compounds of your treatment product. Finally, toners help reduce the size of pores by ridding pores of dirt and oil - less dirt and oil means tighter-looking pores.

What should I look for in a toner?

Before purchasing any toner make sure to check the product label. First, look for a toner that is alcohol-free. Any toners that contain alcohol are actually more of an astringent than a real toner. Second, look for a toner that is free of harmful chemicals such as sulfates, parabens, GMOs and artificial colors. Finally, look for a product that uses the latest in skincare technology – stem cell skincare – to help heal skin and restore skin’s youthful glow. Obviously, we are a bit partial to our own toner – Cell Rescue Active Gel Toner – because we have formulated it from the highest-grade ingredients, and we love it’s easy-to-apply gel consistency – spraying toner in your eyes is so last century! Give it a try - we promise you won’t be disappointed!
