Just like big hair in the 80’s and plaid in the 90’s, juicing is the hottest newest trend. It seems everyone from celebrities to your next-door neighbor are juicing these days. But that’s okay by us, because this green juice trend is one we hope to see stick around for decades.

Juicing can be a bit intimidating, and may not be the most pleasing food to the eye, but we can say from first hand experience, it is not hard to juice and they actually taste way better than you would expect. Still, many consumers are skeptical – a recent survey found that 28% of Americans think green juice is scary looking.

Green juices have become synonymous with healthy eating. They are a great way to fill your body with fruits and vegetables, and help squeeze vitamins and nutrients into the body you may not be getting through your normal diet. They are loaded with fruits and veggies, yet are more convenient to consume than say a veggie-loaded salad.

  1. Matcha Green Tea Morning GloryThis green smoothie is a great way to start your day. Matcha is a type of green tea, but unlike other teas made by steeping leaves, matcha is a fine powder you can mix directly into hot water. It is an antioxidant powerhouse that helps to boost metabolism, fix bad breath, and even help prevent cancer and HIV. Matcha also has about 1/3 the amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, so you still get your morning pick me up without over doing it.
  2. Oz’s Green DrinkPacked with many greens, this juice may taste a bit “earthy” for the less experienced juicers. That just takes some time getting used to until your taste buds adjust to the taste. The ingredients in this juice will improve your health by helping to lower blood pressure, improve your complexion, protect your bones, and aid in digestion.
  3. Cucumber Basil JuiceExperiencing pain or a headache? Whip up this cucumber basil juice and avoid the ibuprofen. Basil leaves are loaded with anti-inflammatory oils that help relieve pain. It has also been used as a remedy for indigestion.
  4. Green LemonadeIf you like your lemonade on the “tart” side, this is your go-to juice that is sure to please your taste buds and nourish your body at the same time. The green apples and lemons add tartness which helps to “cut” some of the “green” taste, while the kale is packed with Vitamins A, C and K and fiber to help manage blood sugar and keep you feeling fuller longer.

Mint Chip Superfood SmoothieNow we know green juices are typically something you consume at breakfast, but the minty, chocolaty goodness could easily double as dessert – think of it as a healthy alternative to mint chocolate chip ice cream! The bright green hue of the smoothie comes from a scoop of spirulina – an algae loaded with protein, anti-inflammatory properties, Omega-3s and calcium.
